The birth anniversary of Hazrat Al-Abbas is marked as the Day of Janbaz or the day of the veterans who lost a body part during Iran’s war with Iraq more than three decades ago. The occasion which falls on February 14 this year is celebrated annually on the 3rd of Sha’ban, the eighth month of the Islamic calendar. Hazrat Abbas was the son of Imam Ali (AS) and was famous for his courage, loyalty, and self-sacrifice.The following pictures, which are published for a first time by the IRNA, depict war heroes who were disabled during the Iraqi-imposed war on Iran in the 1980s.
